Run to Rohn and Beyond

Yep.....Martin Buser said last year that it was going to be a "watershed" race...and it was.  His 24 hour push into Rohn is now expected this year...by him and others!  Kelly Maixiner, a pediatric dentist with 3 Iditarods under his belt with a 30, 31, and 32nd finish....ran to Rohn first, out "Busering" Buser!  Maixiner was followed in by Petit, Williams and Gebhardt.  But, a few hours ago, Buser LEFT Rohn, not opting to take his 24 hour rest, and is traveling on.  This is a deviation to last years run where he did his 24 in Rohn.

The next batch of core front runners are now on their way to Rohn....namely King, Burmeister, Zirkle, Sorlie with Neff leading the charge.  Some say it's this pack to watch.

But it's EARLY!!!  There are some very respectable Teams as far back as 25 and 26 place....both Seaveys are taking it a bit slower....building that monster team as Dallas likes to say.  Expect these two along with others to not really start racing until lets say Kaltag.  Their strategy revolves around keeping as many healthy dogs on the Team and banking rest.  It's an old strategy but a true and tried strategy.  Will it hold up to the test of time....or will the monster long runs begin to change the race...like I said, Buser was right....his decision to pull off the run to Rohn last year got people thinking...and here we are!
