This is it...the race to White Mountain and the set up for Nome is on! Both King and Aliy have taken to the trail....according to the tracker Aliy is a mere one mile behind King! Also, Dallas has indeed passed Buser en route to Elim! The trail is reported to be ice and minimal if any snow cover. Winds are estimated to be 20 to 30 mph....that's sustained wind, not gusts. In what they call the "blow holes" along the coast the wind will be even higher. Races have been won and lost here along the coast. Ground blizzards could eliminate the trail...however this year with nominal snow cover this may not be a problem...but you need a leader who will put his or her nose into the wind and march on towards Nome!
We shall know the order of departure to Nome once these 2 get to White Mountain for a mandatory 8 hour rest. That should be around 9 or 10 our time.
