Ok....remember that clock way back at the start....each musher hit the trail in 2 minute intervals....doesn't sound like much BUT it adds up. Take King with the bib number of 17. There are 70 mushers who left Willow on Sunday, all 2 minutes apart. So it's time to even up the clock...and that's done at the 24 hour mandatory rest. So, 70 total mushers minus Bib #17 = 53 * 2 minutes each= 106 minutes that must be added to the 24 hour rest....get it? Now take Sonny Lindner...he drew bib #70....so his rest will be truly only 24 hours....because everyone else's time has to be lengthened to "make up" for the basic head start they all got over the bigger bib numbers. Once all mushers take their 24, we can then compare apples to apples without doing this crazy math thing! How far ahead or behind Sonny or King is will be figured out after their 24 hour rest.
