Buser and others making a run!

Just like last year, Buser is making a long monster run as his opening move...but this time he has company....Robert Sorlie, known for his long slow runs is running both long, and fast.  Neff looks like he is pulling fast and now is running in the front of the pack with a bib number in the sixties!  It's so hard and icy that they have to drill holes in the ice to set a snow hook at the checkpoints!  Most of the time out on the lakes you wouldn't dare step off the trail or risk wallowing in deep snow.  Not this year....hard packed snow and ice everywhere!  The Iditarod web site reported one could walk in the woods with tennis shoes on!  That's unheard of this time of year!  It will be an interesting 24 hours as the leaders of the pack go up and over the Alaskan Range....with hardly any snow and ice and perhaps even some open water in the passes!!  I'll wrap of the days events tonight as well as report on happenings in the evening hours.....but right now I gotta go to work!
