The race to Shaktoolik

Dallas is in front, but Burmiester is right behind him...it looks like less than a mile. Aily is bringing up the "rear", and is now only 2 miles behind. This is anyone's race...even though I have Dallas to win on one of my boards....I'd love for Aily to win, especially since this is the 25th anniversary of Susan Butchers first win. Guess I'm a bit nostalgic. Baker and Mitch have also taken chase, and are about 19 miles behind the leader Dallas. Watch for Dallas, Burmiester and Aily to check into Shaktoolic around 10 - 10:30 tonight. Often times the musher will stay long enough to hydrate the dogs with some gravy kibble with meat, before heading out onto the sea ice of Norton Sound. Its about 50 miles on the ice before they reach the safety of Koyuk. Stay tuned!
