Is Anyone Hungry?

As the Lead Pack heads to Ruby on the Yukon, a 7 course gourmet meal awaits the first arrival (a shout out to my Office Arm Chair Musher co-workers....I'll bring the bagels on Monday to commemorate the first musher onto the Yukon!). It looks as though Mitch Seavey will be the first one into Ruby...with his son Dallas only back 9 miles from Dad! Next in will be Baker, right now about 11 miles behind Mitch. Mitch is still 12 miles outside of Ruby, but I think its safe to say a Seavey will be sitting at the Head Table in Ruby! I'll report later on the meal...all mushers will be able to enjoy the meal, which is served again in Nome at the Mushers Banquet.

What about Zirkle? She is parked at mile marker 439, and has been resting there for some time now. Chances are, she will blow right thru Ruby...right about when Mitch is enjoying his 6th course of his meal....watch for Ailey to take the lead down the Yukon. This is all speculation, but ever since Ailey stopped to rest on the way to Cripple, her Teams schedule is on a different run/rest schedule from the rest of the lead pack. Its leap frogging at its best! Oh, one more thing...all mushers are required to take an 8 hour rest somewhere along the 200 miles on the Yukon. So again...keep on eye on the stats, and if you see your favorite musher drop down, it could be they are just taking their 8 hour rest. It is possible many mushers will do this in Ruby....and if Zirkle takes her 8 hour rest beyond Ruby, watch for her to try to put enough space in between her team and her competitors before she stops for her 8 hour rest.

I am SO glad I DON'T have to work today...this weekend is Iditaweekend!!! I LOVE THIS RACE!!!!
