The Rabbit Leaves Kaltag, and the Hounds Take Chase

After resting her Team for nearly 5 hours, Aily is once again on the trail, followed closely by Baker and Mitch, now just 10 miles behind. Aily has dropped 2 dogs and is now down to 12. Baker had 12 when he came into Kaltag, but the stats have not yet updated for his departure. Talk on the forums no longer give the edge to Zirkle....its back to a wide open race...they say. Why? One reason is John Baker...he trains in this area....the sea coast is his home, and his dogs typically excel in this part of the race. Dallas and King also both have very strong looking Teams...Aily is going to have to work hard to keep in front...she came into Kaltag with a 3 hour lead....but she traded in some of that lead for rest. We have yet to see if that gamble will pay out in her favor. As she said in an interview...she can't make a 100 mile trek to the coast without a rested Team. So, while others cut rest to take chase, she hopes her Team will out run the hounds on the way to the coast! Go Aily!!!
