Jeff King, Mitch Seavey, Sebastian Schnuelle and John Baker have all made it into Takotna....with Jeff leading the way. When you do the math, King (Bib #15) is just about an hour ahead of Sebastion (Bib #35) , as well as an hour ahead of Mitch Seavey (Bib #19). The GPS Tracker shows Neff just pulled into Takotna, with Gatt, Willomitzer and Mackey just a few miles to go before they get there as well.
Its time the Teams start taking their 24 hour mandatory rest...Takotna is one of the favorite places to take it. BUT, if a musher pushes forward to Ophir, then onto Cripple, they could claim the prize for being the first one to the half way mark! Who will that be? Who will rest and who will push on? The 24 hour rest MUST be taken soon, with the last option being on the Yukon in Ruby. The mushers are also required to take a mandatory 8 hour rest ON the Yukon as well...so to spread out the mandatory rest, you will see most mushers taking their 24 hour rest before Ruby...but if your Team is moving well, its hard to stop them for rest. Strategy, strategy, strategy!
