Drifting off the Trail

OMG...by the looks of the GPS Tracker, Mackey has drifted way to the west on the seas ice and will miss the checkpoint of Koyuk by about 10 miles. King is following his trail....oh no!!!! About 20 minutes ago Mackey was at a stand still...maybe realizing he is off course. Now it looks as though he will continue on until he hits the trail, then he will have to back track to the east to check in at Koyuk...or he may do a course correction on the sea ice....I cant tell at this point. I worry about open water...I hope they will be ok...and that he realizes he has to go back east a bit to hit the check point! He has a 14 mile lead over King right now, who is also off course. I wonder if he can see the lights of Koyuk???
