Teams on the Way to the Finish!

Mitch left White Mountain with 11 on the tug line....some were a bit sleepy, but as soon as they shake off the sleep on the trail I'm sure Mitch will be motoring....maybe thinking about what color truck he may order as part of his prize.  No wind in the Blow Hole will sweep this dream away....Mother Nature is giving the Teams a safe passage this year.  Mitch is currently at mile 928 and will pass the Checkpoint of Safety at mile 958 before completing his trek to Nome 22 miles thereafter.

Dallas left next, with Nick 13 minutes behind him.  Remember when I mentioned Dallas having a swollen wrist back on his way to Huslia....well that is now a severe case of tendinitis and its very painful.  Back in that interview on the trail he mentioned it was caused by "vibrations through the handlebar and whatnot".  If he is allowed to haul dogs next year and the ITC does not outlaw it, you can be sure Dallas will be tweaking his carbon fiber sled so it does not put out so much vibration.  Better yet, perhaps he well refashion a sled like his Dads since that seemed to work perfectly well for him hauling dogs!  Dallas is presently at mile 910.

Nick has some pain of his own..favoring a sprained ankle.  He isn't really known for running beside his sled like Dallas is, so its unclear how this will affect his speed.  Nick has 13 healthy and strong dogs.....Dallas departed with 8 team mates.  Nick is presently 2 miles behind Dallas at mile 908.

The race for second is on!  Go Nick!
