Ceremonial Start is over - Teams Trek to Fairbanks for the Re-Start on Monday!
The Ceremonial Start is over and now all the Teams are relocating to Fairbanks for the real race to begin! There is no telling what will happen this year, but the speculations are flying.....will the trail be slow and deep? Will the wind on the Yukon blow the trail in, making it difficult for all the Teams to navigate? Will the trail "set up" due to the wind and be just fine? This is the Iditarod, and the only thing we DO know is that anything can happen. One of the things I have concern about is moose.....deep snow + moose is not a good combination for dog teams. Lets hope the moose behave and dont get territorial of any packed down trail being used by the Teams.
Here at IditaDacks, we enjoyed the festivities of the Ceremonial Race cheering on our favorite mushers as they left the starting chute! I was pleased to see our SPK Sponsor dog on Allen Moore's Ceremonial Start Roster!!! YEAH Chemo!!! We will know in the next 24 hours if he makes the Re-start roster for Monday....but as you can tell by the above photo I was jazzed to see him partake in the Ceremonial Festivitites!!!
All eyes are on Fairbanks now. I will try to get out of work early to watch the re-start live. The commentary during the restart is always insightful!
Stay tuned!!!
