Aliy was able to pass Kaiser on the trail at Topkok...she said the winds were pretty fierce and visibility was not so good and BOOM, there he was! She dogged him up the hill and Kaiser ended up pulling over for her to pass and she stayed in front of him all the way to Nome! That was exciting!
So...Aliy in 8th place, Kaiser in 9th place, and soon Gebhardt will round out the top 10 as he appears to be unchallenged on the trail with his nearest competitor Jeff King nearly 10 miles behind him. Gebhardt only has about 4 miles to go to get under the Burled Arch in Nome!
The next big milestone I will cover is when Allen Moore and the SPK Black Team make it to the finish line in Nome. If you recall nearly a week and a half ago Mr. Chemo lead the Black Team alongside his Uncle Waylon out of the chute at the restart in Fairbanks....seems like ages ago! Allen (and Chemo) right now are resting in Elim at mile 856. As long as Chemo doesn't tweak a muscle or sprain a toe he will be at the finish line with Allen sometime tomorrow.
