Buser has Solid 4 Hour Lead
Buser has a 4 hour lead and got into Eagle Island first, followed by Aliy 4 hours later, then a mere 20 minutes after her Mitch Seavey pulled in, then 10 minutes the Norwiegen Rookie Ulsom pulled in. Another 10 minutes later we have Royer, King, and Petit, all pulling into Eagle Island. The chase pack looks like a string of pearls laid out on the Yukon. Who will cut rest and jump out ahead? Any takers?
The Iditarod website has been slow to update the current standings. If you go to Sky Stats a little further down in the menu it will show you what the GPSs are picking up. If you have a subscription you can actually see the bib numbers on a satellite map. I'm looking at it right now and we have Berkowitz just pulling in to the Eagle Island checkpoint with Burmeister right behind him. Mackey will be next but is still 12 miles away.
The big question now is who will challenge Buser.....who will make the big move. Buser is right there in Eagle Island with the others.....but his dogs have been resting for 4 hours before the first chase Team rolled in. I'm beginning to question why hasn't he bolted? I look up at the Screen and wow.....he JUST took off......the rabbit is outta the hole.....who will be the first team of hounds to take chase?
