Aliy Blows Thru Anvik!

Aliy Zirkle has checked in and out of Anvik and is presently in the lead of this race. Buser is taking his mandatory 8 hour rest in Anvik, so once his time is up he will again be able to take chase. So, when you do the math (Aliy will also have to stop for 8 hours somewhere on the Yukon) Buser has about a 3 or 4 hour lead. Physically Aliy is leading the race....it's a lot about strategy now. The next checkpoint is 18 miles away in Grayling. There is nearly 150 miles of trail on the Yukon and Teams must take an 8 hr break either in Anvik, Grayling, Eagle Island or Kaltag. Aliy is being chased by Petit and rookie team Joar Ulsom from Norway. More on Joar in a bit.....I know he is a rookie in the Iditarod but he is a star musher in Norway.....I'll have to research his team a bit and post some info. Petit I thought was a flash in the pan, be he too is demanding some respect with the race he is running. It looks as though Petit and Ulsom are staying in Anvik, but could take chase after Aliy any time. The GPS tracker at 11:57 has Aliy at 3 miles out of Anvik up the Yukon with no one chasing her.....awesome! GO Aliy!!!
