Aaron Burmiester just left Nulato and will declare his 8 hour rest in Kaltag. Aliy is presently serving her 8 hour layover in Nulato, while Mitch is serving his in Koyukuk. Funny how these last 3 hold outs for the 8 hour layover is ending up spending it in 3 different checkpoints. We shall soon see which strategy proves the best! Meanwhile, remember all those other Mushers who don't have any more mandatory rests to take? While King was resting in Koyukuk both Aliy and Burmiester blew through....now he is halfway to Nulato to sneak up on a resting Aliy. Dallas has just reached Koyukuk and is reported as driving a very fast team....when he slows down much beyond 9 mph he pulls them over for a short break. This is a somewhat different tactic but very effective. And Wade Marrs, who I haven't even mentioned is sneaking up in the ranks and is a mere 11 miles behind Dallas. Wade has chasers too....Royer, Ulsom, Kaiser and Warner are about 7 miles behind him.
Hey...we got ourselves a Sled Dog Race...I'm sleeping on the Davenport tonight to stay close to the computer.....gonna be an interesting night indeed!
