The Long Wait

Well...its been quite an uneventful day with the lead mushers taking their 24 hour layover in Takotna. There have been a handful of Mushers who pushed further into the next checkpoint of Ophir...probably just to get away of all the parked Teams in Takotna! No one took their 24 in McGrath...very unusual. The trail is so fast this year it seemed to push Mushers further along to their 24 hour layovers. The next question will be - who will get to Iditarod first and claim the halfway prize...and who will get to Anvik on the Yukon and claim that 8 course meal? Then on to the Coast in Unalakleet...and finally Nome. Yeah, there is A LOT more racing to be done...and there are many Teams in good positions. Like the lead Mushers, I also took my "24" today and celebrated Elizabeths birthday....but tomorrow, I'll once again hit the trail, finding out all I can about this Last Great Race On Earth!
